Mr Cheung was appointed as a Non-Independent Non-Executive Director and Vice Chairman of Etiqa Family Takaful Berhad on 7 February 2020.

He is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants, Canada, Chartered Financial Planners, Canada and holds a degree of Bachelor of Social Sciences (Economics) from the University of Hong Kong.

Mr Cheung has more than 30 years of experience in the life insurance industry and was involved in the set-up of 2 joint ventures life insurance companies in China, both from preparatory to the operational stage.

In 2014, Mr Cheung joined Ageas Insurance Group as Country Manager and Chief Representative of the Ageas Representative Office in China. Prior to joining Ageas, Mr Cheung has held various executive positions in other established insurance companies in China, as a Chief Executive Officer and General Manager. He specialises in distribution management, product development, marketing as well as market expansion and strategy.

Mr Cheung was also the Country Manager of Ageas, China from January 2014 to March 2023, and he was also member of the boards of Taiping Life Insurance Company Limited, Taiping Asset Management Company Limited and Taiping Financial Services Company Limited from 2014 to March 2023.
